Leave a comment!Aluminum foil is a lifesaver in the kitchen, helping out when there's a casserole dish or brownie pan in need of a quick cover. But we think it's possible to get a little more mileage out of the stuff. Today's genius other-use for aluminum foil is for removing rust from chrome. Let's see how Sara from the blog Russet Street Reno used it on her bike.

Sara started by crumpling the aluminum foil up into a ball, keeping the shiny side facing out. Then, she dipped it in water. (Nothing fancy, just from the tap.)

Next, take the aluminum foil ball and rub the chrome using a back-and-forth (not circular) motion. You'll start to see black "bubbles" appear on the surface. At this point, you'll want to give the chrome a good scrubbing and then dry with an old rag.

And you're done! This is a glimpse of a part of Sara's bike before (left) and after (right) the aluminum foil treatment. See how the little rust marks are gone? Amazing.
